Scharner: Bring on Chelsea

Paul Scharner says Latics shouldn't be in awe of moneybags Chelsea ahead of the visit of Luiz Felipe Scolari side to Wigan on Sunday.
Big Phil's side turned on the style to beat Portsmouth 4-0 on Sunday and will be red-hot favourites to win at the JJB Stadium.
But centre-half Scharner takes heart from Latics' last meeting with Chelsea in April when the sides shared a 1-1 draw.

He told the Evening Post: "This was always a game which people would look forward to and it should be a good game.
"We got a point the last time we played Chelsea and I'm looking forward to playing against them again – who knows we might get all three this time?
"Why can't we get something from the game?

"The gaffer has put together a strong squad and I think it should be possible for us to finish in the top half of the table this season."
Before Chelsea, Scharner is set to make his comeback from the international wilderness with Austria.

He has been recalled to their squad for tomorrow's friendly against Italy, which strangely is being played in the South of France.
Scharner hasn't played for his country for two years since making critical remarks about the set-up of the Austrian FA, and missed Euro 2008 as a result.

But with a new coach at the helm – former Czech Republic coach Karel Bruckner – there's been a change of heart.
Scharner said: "I have tried to retire from retiring!
"For me the problem was Austria weren't professional enough and that's why I decided to retire two years ago.

"But I'm looking forward to the game against Italy. It's nice to be back."
Scharner is one of 10 Latics players away on international duty this week, a situation which is hardly causing Steve Bruce to jump for joy ahead of Chelsea's visit.
