A man has been accused of breaking into a house and launching a vicious New Year’s Day assault against one of its occupants.

Mark Ward, 27, of Church Street, Leigh, appeared before Wigan justices charged with entering an address in Hope Street as a trespasser and then causing Andrew Thorpe grievous bodily harm on January 1 this year. The bench bailed him to appear before a to Bolton judge on December 16.
