FORMER Wigan Athletic striker Marcus Bent has avoided jail after admitting to affray and possession of cocaine.

The 37-year-old, who pleaded guilty to the two offences following an incident at his Surrey home on September 13, 2015, was given a 12 month jail sentence, suspended for two years.

Bent, who played for Wigan during the 2007-08 season, was reportedly tasered by police.

Nine months of his suspended sentence was for affray and three months was for possession of cocaine,
