Wigan’s Davey Boy Smith – the legendary ‘British Bulldog’ – will be inducted into the WWF/WWE Hall of Fame later today.

The late star, who hailed from Golborne, was due to be inducted 12 months ago, only for Covid-19 to force the event to be cancelled.

But this year’s event will honour inductees from 2020 as well as 2021, meaning Davey Boy will join the likes of Bret ‘Hitman’ Hart – his brother in law – in the legends lounge.

“My family and I have been waiting years for this,” said Georgia Smith, Davey Boy’s proud daughter.

“This is like a missing puzzle piece for my dad’s wrestling legacy.

“I’m so proud, excited, and the happiest person in the world that my dad, the British Bulldog Davey Boy Smith, is a WWE Hall of Famer.”
