Adrian Lam hopes to have a couple of tricks up his sleeve for tomorrow’s Challenge Cup showdown with Hull FC.

The Warriors edged last week’s encounter in Super League by 16-14 to maintain their perfect start to the year.

And Lam admits they were careful not to ‘show their hand’, keeping some plays back as a surprise for Saturday’s BBC-televised quarter-final at Leeds.

“I think both teams sort of dipped their toe in the water last week, I know we did,” he said.

“We didn’t want to over-coach them last week and give away too much information, because this is the bigger week, obviously.

“We’ve got a better feel of who they are as a team, we have a certain game plan, and so will they.

“But at the same time, when you play the same side back-to-back, you need to make sure you don’t show your hand in the first one.”

Asked whether he had some tricks up his sleeve, he grinned: “There are a couple of sneaky ones there, yeah.”

One of those tricks is not in his team selection, with fit-again winger Dom Manfredi replacing the suspended Tony Clubb in the only change in Wigan’s 21- man squad.

The winger hasn’t featured since last November and seems unlikely to make the matchday squad. Thomas Leuluai, who has missed the last two matches with a sternum injury, is not yet fit.

Warriors' 21-man squad: French, Manfredi, Hardaker, Singleton, Powell, Bullock, Isa, Farrell, Bateman, Partington, Smithies, Byrne, Smith, Havard, Bibby, Clark, Shorrocks, Halsall, McDonnell, Hanley, Hasting.
