Trent Barrett has
demanded an end to Warriors' indifferent form as they prepare to tackle struggling
Huddersfield at the
JJB Stadium tomorrow (kick-off 8pm).
Even though Wigan's stand-in skipper admits there will be plenty of twists and turns before the end of the Super League season, he has called for an immediate return to winning ways.
Warriors have lost their last two games – at Hull KR and at home to St Helens – and Barrett has underlined the importance of jolting themselves out of the losing rut.

The Australian stand-off said: "We have to get back on winning trail now.
"We were poor in the second half at Hull KR and beaten by a better team when we played St Helens.
"But there can be no more excuses.
"This is the start of the run in to the play-offs and we need to pick it up now."

Giants haven't won away all season and Barrett doesn't want to see that unwanted record ended at Wigan's expense.

He added: "There are still 12 points to play for this year and with the competition for top-six places intense, it's vital we start to pick up some more wins."

Barrett is desperate to close the gap on fourth-placed Warrington. And tomorrow's rearranged fixture is the only Super League game this weekend as the two Challenge Cup semi-finals take centre stage.
Favours

Barrett – who is captaining the side in the absence of the
injured Sean O'Loughlin – added: "We've known we've had this game in hand for some weeks and now that it's here, we have to make it count.
"We've slipped into fifth place and while we can't improve on that this weekend, we can do ourselves a lot of favours by playing well and winning.

Ste of the Warrington Casuals,

I wonder if Trent is really that bothered if Wigan finish 4 or 5 this year? In reality Wigan has no chance in the play offs its a 2 horse race with Saints and Leeds with maybe Catalans as an outside bet. Even Wire are non runners, we crack under pressure when playing Saints and Leeds and have only a slight better chance than Wigan.

As good as he has been at times for Wigan, hopefully he recognises how poor he has been in Saints games. Its easy to say that Long and Pryce have dominated him due to Saint's superior pack, but in those games he has not even shown any of his skills even basic ones.

Ste, stop wasting your summer holidays on the computer go out and play with your little friends.

as its trent whos demanding, does that mean that lockers is still out? does trent really think that players will perform to his demends when he isnt gonna be here next year. the phrase rat deserting a sinking ship comes to mind. we have had 1 good performence under trents captaincy and maybe the players feel dissapointed about his decision to leave

So trent is demanding an improvement from his team mates, well perhaps he could lead by example,as he has not exactly shone. However good trent barrett has been in the past,he has not shown that sort of form while he has been at wigan.I know one or two of you will probably say he can not do it on his own, but for me having him in the team has not done wigan any favours at all, they seemed to play better when he missed a few matches.

LuckyGriff, I think you must have a short memory. If Trent Barrett "has not shown that sort of form while he has been at wigan", why was he in contention for Man of Steel last year? What is true is that comparing this season to last, his performances have been far below what we expected, particularly since he become captain. It's ironic that people are noticing this despite the clamour for him to be captain instead of Lockers at the beginning of last year... Not since Faz was here have we had someone who can be both captain and a great player. The responsibility seems to have affected the usual games of Radlinski, Newton, O'Laughlin and now Barrett...

So, yes, TB needs to improve before he leaves, and I hope he is going to show commitment right up to the final game, but to say he's not done the job ever since he's signed does not reflect his performances last year.

Perhaps i expected too much from trent, but after reading all the stuff about what a great signing he was i just do not think he has lived up to expectations.Even last year when he got plaudits he never had a decent match winning performance against the top teams. Also what use is a player that cannot play in the rainy conditions that we have over here.
