Fielden fired up by critics

Stuart Fielden says the
recent criticism aimed at Wigan has fired their play-off charge - Warriors lock horns with Leeds at the JJB tomorrow in the knowledge they have already secured a play-off berth.
It is a far cry from a month ago when the Warriors players were blasted by their fans and club chairman Ian Lenagan in the aftermath of a calamitous home defeat to Huddersfield.

Fielden said: "I think what happened a few weeks ago, and everything surrounding the talk and fall-out from that game, has galvanised the whole squad.

"We have shown a lot of character and resolve, and there's a real siege mentality here.
"We were rough and ready against Wakefield, and we weren't brilliant.
"But we produced a win against a team who were desperate and that's all that matters at this stage of the season.

"All the boys stood up to be counted and I think they can be proud of that."

Warriors were subjected to chants of 'You're not fit to wear the shirt' during the 34-4 humbling by Giants – and were booed off at the finish.
But they have responded by thrashing Hull and beating Wakefield at home, and producing a battling display at in-form Catalans to rescue a point after Dragons had taken a 10-4 half-time lead.

Fielden, who has shared the co-captaincy with Phil Bailey in the last two games, added: "It is a privilege to share the captaincy of this great club, not that it wasn't a total pleasure to play before.

"But it has felt like a team over the past few weeks because we've pulled together like never before this year.

"It feels great and the boys are really firing now. We've gone three games unbeaten now since Huddersfield and hopefully we can keep that
momentum going."

'You're not fit to wear the shirt' could be sang again at Knowsley Road in a few weeks I think.

thanks stu. im glad that someone finally has said that criticism has helped them and made them perform. so all these do gooders on here who pretend to think they are better suporters for saying its wrong to boo can finally rea and learn. true supporters boo..clap..jump with joy..becauce its emotion!! if someone doesnt boo when we constantly perform bad. then that person isnt emotional enough about their team and should go to
gala bingo instead. stu should be captain, i said this all year,, hes the player who stands up to be counted now. he knows nobby the best and hes british, thanks again for your honesty stu. it what we needed
pity hanson wasnt so honest and emotional when he said "its not the end of the world"

Totally agree with those comments Mr Lowe, hopefully we are seeing a turnaround for Fielden. As for Hansen, when you see him strut round the JJB fitness centre you would think he was Hanley!

To answer Diane H from a couple of nights ago.I have played and watched RL for over 40 years but at the moment I am not enjoying the game. SL and the salary cap has produced a very mediocre competition. 2 very good teams but the rest are poor.

I will not be going again for a while and I am still 100% confident that we will win nothing under Noble. We haven't improved by any margin we are just better than the rest of the dross at the moment.

We will beat Leeds on Friday but it will be another team in red and white that they will face in the GF.

I don't want to return to the days when watching Wigan was about how many they will win by. The best game I ever saw was like many the Manly game. I won't be conned by Sky and uncritical Cherry and Whites into thinking that today's product is the best ever!

I personally think we are struggling on friday without Pat Richards. How many games have we beat Leeds by just a couple of points? Phelps better have his imense kicking boots on!
