Warrington have confirmed their interest in departing Wigan hooker Micky Higham.
But they won't be able to make an official approach until after the August 31 anti-tampering deadline.

Wolves benefactor Simon Moran said: "We're looking at him. He seems like a good player and he's keen to come to Warrington, so we'll see what we can do."

Higham has been told he can leave the Warriors at the end of the current campaign after three-years at the JJB Stadium.
Wigan have signed Australian Mark Riddell for next season as his replacement.

Higham, 27, is keen to remain in the north west and has also attracted interest from Salford and Widnes.

But Warrington are shaping as his most likely destination. They need a new hooker to replace Mark Gleeson, who left to join Halifax.

Wolves stand-in coach James Lowes admitted: "He's a good player and he's played at the top for a lot of years."

Good Luck Mickey.....a decent bloke and a great player...pity Wigan have let you go....both yourself and Calders will be missed - 2 great signings to the team 3 years ago from Millward if I remember rightly....who did Nobby signed Withers and Fielden (2 massive wastes of salary cap)...luckily Lenegan looks or quality - Carmont and Phelps have turned out to be great signings....plus Nobby did not like Calders so we had one of the best wingers working as the most overpayed water carrier in the game....maybe Nobby should be put on water carrying duties and get a fan to coach....I am sure we will see a big improvement than what we are getting from Nobby at moment!

If wigan let micky higham go to warrington, that will be the latest in a long line of misjudgements.Remember they also let jon clarke go as well. The other clubs seem to be better at getting their players to fulfill their potential.

Mickey H came with an abition to step out of Cunninghams shadow and prove to everyone that he is a no 1 hooker. Sadly he has failed to deliver and its a good bit of business to offload him. The only thing he is good at is running round in circles and giving penalties away. Wigan always look better organised when McClorum is on and McClorum's deliveries are a lot sharper from the play the ball.
Good luck Mickey cant fault your effort but Basil made an error in bringing you in exchange for Tez Newton.

Good luck Mickey.
If the team was full of mickeys attitude then loosing wouldnt be half as bad because you know he plays with pride and gives his all every match!
Theres a few more id let go before him!!!

And on the calders subject, how much do you want to bet that wherever he end's up he'll be scoring trys every week!!!

Agree with JB Good.
Mickey has always been a grafter; but he just doesn't have the talent to have the no.9 shirt, good squad player though.

You say mickey does not have the talent,i disagree he makes breaks and there never seems to be anybody backing up,if we had somebody like shaun edwards or kris radlinski they would have had a hatful of tries off him.I think he will prosper somewhere else as will mark calderwood who has never had the service to show off his greatest asset which is speed.I dont like saying this, but if he had been at saints he would have topped the try scoring charts.

I agree about Higham, he does a lot of work and despite giving away a lot of penalties, that's more a reflection of how much defensive work he puts in. Him and Tommy L are the best 1-on-1 tacklers we've got. Plus he does make breaks, but Wigan don't support ball carriers very well and haven't done for years.

I'm not convinced by Calderwood though. Yes, he's not had good service from his centre (but then, before Carmont joined, how many years is it since we had a centre who realised he had a winger outside him?!) but when he has been given the ball he's tended to fluff more often than not. His runs from the back tend to be sideways rather than forward, and whilst he puts in a couple of key tackles a game, that is infact his entire defensive effort for the game! He just doesn't look interested, and I don't think he ever did. Remember that he came here because he got a financial offer he couldn't refuse, and there's no way he's justified whatever riches we're paying him.

I think Wigan are making a big mistake in letting Higham go.He works very hard & plays with great pride
