Knife terror at store

A shop assistant in Ashton was left badly shaken after being robbed at knifepoint.
Two raiders threatened the worker at Bargain Booze in Ashton-in-Makerfield with a 9ins blade.

The raid happened shortly before 9pm on Sunday, July 20, when the men walked into the store on Wigan Road and posed as customers.

One of the men then threatened the shop assistant with a 9ins kitchen knife, demanding they open the till.

After taking the money, the men were seen running away down Whitledge Road and into an alleyway.
DC Andrew Whittle said: "Although nobody was injured in this robbery, the victim was badly shaken."

The man carrying the knife was 5ft 4ins tall, very slim and is believed to have been wearing a motorcycle helmet. He had his face covered, was dressed in dark clothing.

His accomplice was 5ft 8ins tall. His face was covered and he wore dark clothing.
